Summer String Festival
From the fiery flare and rhythms of Latin inspired guitar,
to the tangos of bandoneon and orchestral dances of South America,
this week will surely provide a cultural musical journey
and unique orchestral experience!
Mt. Lebanon: July 17-21

9:00 am - 1:00 pm Daily
Designed for string students ages 9-16 yrs old
(violin, viola, cello & bass)
*1-2 years of playing experience is recommended to play in
ensembles and groups at the festival.
Students will be placed according to age and playing experience.
There is no audition in order to attend!
Students may be asked to submit a recording for placement in orchestra.
Cost: $280
Registration Deadline Extended to June 15th!
Festival Activities:
String Orchestra:
Students will participate in one of the string orchestras, directed by
TRYPO's Symphonettes Conductor, Pierce Cook.
Performing a variety of South American influenced string orchestra music,
they will also work daily with coaches to help them learn the music.
Students will be placed by age and level.
Classes with Guest Artists:
*Guitarist & Composer, Johannes Linstead,
will share his original pieces with a Latin inspired theme, teaching stylistic elements along with the rhythmic grooves that make up the heartbeat of this eclectic and energetic music.
He will perform alongside the students at the final concert.
*Bandoleon Soloist and Tango Specialist, Alejandro Pinzon,
will give a master class introducing the students to this traditional
Argentinean instrument of the tango. He will also be a featured soloist with the orchestra.
Johannes Linstead Concert: Johannes and his band will be performing in concert
Wednesday, July 19th at 7:00 pm at Southminster Presbyterian Church!
The concert is free and open to the public!
Final Showcase Concert will be held on the last day of the festival at 12 pm.
Families and friends are invited to attend for free!
