Summer String Festival

  9:00 am - 1:00 pm Daily

Designed for  string students ages 9-16  yrs old
(violin, viola, cello & bass)

      *2  years of playing experience is recommended
 to play in ensembles and groups at the festival. 
Students will be placed  according to age and playing experience.

There is no audition in order to attend!
(There is a voluntary seating audition on the first day if students wish to sit at the front of the section.)

Festival Activities:

String Orchestra:
Students will participate in one of the string orchestras, directed by TRYPO Symphonette  Conductor, Pierce Cook. 
Performing a variety of Klezmer & Jewish influenced string orchestra music,
they will also work daily with coaches to help them learn the music.
Students will be placed by age and level.

Classes with Guest Artist Steven Greenman:

Musicianship & Klezmer Music:
Derived from Eastern Europe and played and danced at Jewish weddings and celebrations, Klezmer music is Jewish folk music that is soulful and upbeat. Taught by renowned violinist, composer, and educator, Steven Greenman, students will learn Klezmer tunes, explore phrasing, style and ornamentation as well as incorporate the accompaniment patterns with full ensemble interaction of the participants.

Masterclass with Christine Crowder, Accordian Player

Special Festival Concert: Recital Thursday, July 18th at 7:00 pm
Steven Greenman & Christine Crowder Perform in Recital at Bower Hill Community Church 

Final Showcase Concert will be held on the last day of the festival at 12 pm.
Families and friends are invited to attend for free!
